With Kirk and Jill as our agents, we just closed (by mail, conveniently and without stress) on a wonderful home in Austin and will be moving next month from New Orleans (10 months post-Katrina).

My wife Rita and I have owned numerous homes and other real estate, from the modest to the exquisite, and everything in between.  We have used Realtors, and have also transacted without representation, both as buyers and as sellers. 

Rita always seeks the best when retaining professional services, and she expects people to do a good job.  She scrutinized numerous Austin agents before telling me that Kirk was going to be “our man.”  Then we were pleased to learn that we got Jill’s excellent services as part of the package.

We had already used the excellent Homecity.com web site extensively, and knew the few homes we really thought were right for us.  Kirk showed us a few other homes even as we had focused on one property and while he was helping us make a skillful approach to getting that one under contract.

Rita and I were totally pleased with Kirk and Jill already, and ecstatic about the prospect of getting the ideal house. But then, the most amazing thing happened.  Just as we were ready to sign the purchase agreement that would have more-or-less secured the entire deal, including Kirks commission, Kirk asked that we wait for a few minutes so he could go online and make sure that some better option had not arisen since that morning!  Kirk’s professionalism at that moment was a perfect illustration of an agent’s Fiduciary Duty to his client and of proactive Professional Ethics.  

Kirk and Jill did not hesitate to do whatever we needed, such as help with financing and inspections, making sure our interests were protected, since we were not in town yet.  They continued this faithful and generous service after their commission was in the bank. 

One last story:  our longtime paralegal, who we were recruiting to move to Austin to join us, needed an apartment.  Kirk doesn’t ordinarily do leases, but he spent a day with her to find the right apartment. 

Now, I know that every transaction and business relationship will not be perfect, and surely even Kirk and Jill are not always able to hit home runs in every inning.  But what we saw was not luck; it was the most impressive knowledge, hustle and professionalism we have ever seen in the real estate business, and we recommend them without reservation.  This is a top-notch, full-service team that gives their clients full value and more.
